‘Mausaji Jai Hind’ marks 3rd day of online Theatre Fest

A unique story of an old man was told through a Hindi play ‘Mausaji Jai Hind’ here on Monday marking the third day of Online Theatre Fest- Madhya Pradesh Rangotsav.

The Bundeli play is adoption of Udayprakash’s story of the same which was directed and adapted by Vasant Kashikar. The play was presented by Vivechana Theatre Group, Jabalpur.

The story revolves around middle aged character Mausaji who is resident of Sagar. He belongs to middle class family and lives with his son but his son doesn’t pay more attention on him. Mausaji is something unique character who lives in their own world and believes in show off. He uses to say that he had proximity to Gandhiji and his struggle against Britons.

 He says that Gandhiji used to take suggestion in every case. He also uses to tell that he has contact with every big personality across world including Janganana Adhikari, (census officers), Thanedar (police station in-charge) and everyone fears from him. Mausaji creates a false world around him and doesn’t want to come out from it. Due to such behaviour, he has to face difficulties. At the end of play, he realizes his mistakes but doesn’t leave his habit.

 Charkha, Gandhi photographs and other props were used to make the play livelier. Three bhajan of Gandhiji and some Bundeli songs were used which highlighted the moods of play. Simple Bundeli dialects were used to present the play.

Talking about the play, director of play, Vasant Kashikar said “This is a comedy play which sends out the message that one should know their reality or we should know what we are? We can’t survive with double standards.”
