3 deaths, 115 Covid cases reported in Chandigarh

Three Covid-19 related fatalities were reported in the union territory of Chandigarh as 115 fresh positive cases surfaced on Monday.

“The Covid-19 death toll reached 237. The total positive cases stood at 15249,” stated Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin.

The active cases jumped to 902 in the city.

With 86 patients being discharged including persons from home isolation in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries were recorded at 14110, the bulletin stated.

In Chandigarh, the COVID-19 fatality rate stood at 1.55 percent.  The recovery rate was recorded at 92.5 percent while the active ratio of cases was recorded at 5.9 percent which means for every 100 confirmed cases, 5 are currently infected in the city.

Giving details of the fatalities, the bulletin said, “An 82 years old male resident of Sector 21 has expired at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. A 72 years old male resident of Sector 46, a case of diabetes and hypertension has expired at GMCH 32 and a 59 years old male resident of Sector 63 died at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.”

According to the health bulletin, among the 115 positive cases reported, 67 were male residents and 48 were female residents.

In the last 24 hours, a maximum of 18 positive cases were reported in Manimajra. The fresh cases were reported in Sectors 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 32, 33, 35, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 51, 52, 56, Badheri, Dadumajra, Daria, Dhanas, Industrial Area Phase I, Kaimbwala, Khuda Lahora, Maloya, Mauli Jagran, Mani Majra and Ram Darbar.

116839 samples have been tested in the city so far. 1250 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the report of 122 was awaited, the bulletin added.
