Deoghar police Cyber cell has arrested nine cyber criminals at three different villages including Lakhipur, Pathara and Ledwa under Patharol police station area here on Wednesday.
Police have also recovered 18 mobiles phones, 2 sim cards, 9 passbooks, 3 ATM cards and Rs 33,000 cash from their possession, said Deoghar SP Piyush Pandey.
Cyber cell sources said that the arrested cyber criminals have been named Praveen Das, Subash Das, Rajesh Kumar Das, Sajan Kumar Das, Balram Das, Biranchi Kumar Das, Mithun Kumar Das, Binod Das, and Pramod Kumar DasL.
All the accused are said to be residents of Lakhipur, Pathara and Ledwa villages in Pathral police station area.
According to Deoghar SP, all are vicious cyber criminals and polilce have been looking for the accused for a long time.
The SP also stated that money transactions were done through UPI and arrested accused, sometimes possess themselves as bank managers, sometimes being managers of others banks, carried out cyber crime incidents.
This gang is accused of cheating millions of rupees, added Panday.
Giving information about the case, the SP said that the police had received information about the cheating of these people by various cyber criminals in various villages of the Patharol police station area of the district by making fake bank officers for KYC updates and other things. After which the police formed a team and raided Lakhkipur, Pathra and Ledwa etc. villages of Patharol police station area and arrested nine cyber criminals. In their confessional statement before the police, these people have confessed to cheating in the name of a fake bank officer. It is considered a major success for the police. They are currently being questioned. What other people are involved with them is being ascertained.
