Thursday, 06 August 2020 | PNS | JHARSUGUDA

A 70-year-old woman died when two elephants ransacked her house at Bhaunra village under Kirmira block of Jharsuguda district on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Jamuna Behera. According to reports, she was sleeping when the elephants destroyed the house. A portion of the wall fell on her, as a result of which she was crushed to death on the spot.

Being informed, forest officials and police reached the village on Wednesday morning and recovered the woman’s body. Locals alleged that the Forest Department hasn’t taken any adequate step to keep elephants away from the locality, for which such incidents are frequently taking place.
