Sounding a warning over a renewed rise in Covid-19 cases, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Wednesday called for strictness while following measures to contain Covid infection in the state.
Addressing a high-level meeting in his office in the Assembly premises, Baghel said that strict compliance of the guidelines for prevention of coronavirus should be ensured.
He said there has been a sharp rise in the number of Covid cases in Maharashtra and Delhi and said Collectors of all districts should be told hold tests at the airports and inter-state borders, particularly with Maharashtra.
Covid-19 tests should also be made in hospitals and those not wearing masks in public places should be fined, he said.
The Chief Minister wanted frequent announcements at public places asking people to wear mask, observe physical distance and wash hands from time to time.
Health Minister T.S. Singh Deo said the screening of passengers at the airports had started and that a number of fresh Covid cases had been found in Durg, Rajnandgaon and Raipur.
Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu and Agriculture Minister Ravindra Choubey also took part in the meeting along with senior officials.
