Two idols of Lord Buddha, which were found after excavation of the archaeological department in Bahoranpur of Sadar block in Hazaribagh district, have been stolen. Hazaribag district administration started investigation after getting the information of idol theft.
The theft incident was reported on Sunday morning. Gurhet Panchayat Head, Mahesh Tigga informed Hazaribag Superintendent of Police (SP) Karthik S that some of idols which were found in excavation are missing from the spot. Hazaribag SP said that action would be taken against the policemen on duty after investigation.
A police force of 1-4 was deployed by Karthik S at Bahoranpur excavation site to do day and night duty. Apart from this, three villagers have also been deployed for the security of the site despite this, two idols have been stolen. A total of 13 idols of rare Buddhist Bhumi Sparsh have been found in the excavation of the archaeological department out of which two idols have been stolen. According to the information, the idols found in Bahoranpur are rare.
Monk Dhamma Rakshit National President Namo Tas Bhagwato Arhato Sammasubuddhas has demanded Hazaribag Deputy Commissioner Aditya Kumar Anand to fence the Bahoranpur excavation site. He said that this place should be protected. The Deputy Commissioner has assured that the administration will take initiative in this direction.
Karthik S told that action would be taken against the policemen on duty after investigation. Sadar SDO, Sadar SDPO, CCR DSP, Chorchu Zone Inspector, Mufassil Police Station Incharge have reached the spot and they started investigation to find out the idols.
