The response to the Covid-19 vaccination drive in Chandigarh continues to remain below the desired level with only 36 per cent of the targeted health care workers turning up for the vaccine shot on Thursday.
A total of 344 health care workers were given doses of vaccination against the target of 948 beneficiaries, accounting for the achievement rate of 36.2 percent.
The sessions were held at nine sites in the city. No adverse event following immunization was reported, said an official spokesman.
However, 39 frontline workers against the target of 54 were also vaccinated on the same day at two sites. This included 20 police personnel.
A day before, the second phase of vaccination drive for frontline workers which include the police personnel, Municipal Corporation Employees, Revenue officials, Paramilitary forces etc had begun in the city. 38 police officers and 28 MCC employees turned up for vaccination on Wednesday.
The first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive began on January 16. Till now, 4470 out of targeted 9501 healthcare workers have received a shot of COVID-19 vaccination. The overall achievement rate is less than 50 percent in the city.
1 DEATH, 12 FRESH CASES
One more person succumbed to COVID-19 as 12 fresh positive cases were detected in Chandigarh on Thursday. While the tally stood at 21036, the death toll has reached 337 in the city, as per the Chandigarh Health Department’s evening bulletin.
