Scientist suspended for demanding bribe

The Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board has suspended a scientist with immediate effect for demanding a bribe, it was announced on Thursday.

Chandrika Kanwar was suspended under the Chhattisgarh Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, an official press release said.

During the suspension, she will be attached to the Board headquarters in Nava Raipur.

The action followed a complaint from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) to Forest, Housing & Environment Minister Mohammad Akbar on Wednesday night, IMA President Dr Vikas Agrawal told The Pioneer.

Three days ago, the officer     demanded a bribe while inspecting the private nursing home of senior             pediatrician and Kanti Devi Smriti Hospital Director Dr Mahendra Dewangan, Dr Agrawal said.
