Prominent trains connecting Tatanagar and Howrah are returning back on the tracks. Several trains that had stopped operating during the lockdown are returning for the passengers.According to the officials of South Eastern Railway ( SER) Howrah-Barbil Jan Shatabdi Express which travels via Tatanagar will resume services from September 12.
SER authorities recently issued a circular announcing the time-table of the most popular train plying between the two stations, which will run daily as Howrah-Barbil Special.
The train (No. 02021), will leave from Howrah daily at 6.20 am and reach Barbil at 12.55 pm. On its return journey, the train, 02022 Barbil-Howrah Special will leave from Barbil daily at 1.45 pm and arrive at Howrah at 8.55 pm. The Up train will reach Tatanagar at 10 am while the return train will come to Tatanagar railway station at 4.42 pm. The train will have four AC chair cars and 14 non -AC chair car coaches.
Another popular train between Jamshedpur and Kolkata, the 02829/02830 Howrah-Tata Special Train, which was also withdrawn at the same time will resume its service from September 7. Considered to be a lifeline of the steel city, the train equipped with 23 coaches used to ferry over 3,500 passengers.
South Eastern Railway headquarters also notified resumption of several other trains of various destinations including Jhargram-Dhanbad MEMU Special from September 7. The Jhargram-Dhanbad MEMU Special (08019) will leave Jhargram daily at 6 am and will reach Dhanbad at 1.45 pm on the same day. In the return direction, Dhanbad-Jhargram MEMU Special (08020) will depart from Dhanbad at 2.15 pm daily and will arrive at Jhargram at 9.15 pm the same day.
The Tatanagar railway station is the only A1-category railway station under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway ( SER). The footfall at the station is gradually on the rise because of the increasing number of trains and also because of the fact that Tatanagar falls on the Howrah-Mumbai main line. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers. But, in view of the pandemic around a dozen trains pass through the station these days. The footfall of passengers has also come down drastically.
