Health Minister and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Kisore Das has ordered an inquiry into the death of two local youths due to coronavirus at the Jharsuguda Covid Hospital.
Media reports have alleged that Tushar Kanti Sen and Prasant Pradhan died due to medical negligence of doctors. Responding to the reports, Das immediately asked for a detailed report from the CDMO about the treatment provided to the duo and the circumstances of their death. Tushar, a lawyer, had been admitted to the Covid Hospital after being positive for coronavirus and efforts were made to transfer him to a private hospital at Sambarpur and later to Bargarh. However, due to the non-availability of beds in those places, he was brought back to the Jharsuguda hospital, where he died.
Prashant, first admitted to the Jharsuguda Covid Hospital, was transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital after three days and was told that he was Covid negative. He, however, died at the DHH due to the lack of oxygen.
