Outreach & Excellence Programme
The EqualHue initiative has launched a first-of-its-kind outreach and excellence programme, comprising youth tournaments, financial assistance and technical opportunities, to support girls and women in India who aspire to play cricket.
The Equal Hue project, a movement focussing on gender equity in sport, was founded in 2020 by former India cricketer Snehal Pradhan, author Karunya Keshav and The Sports Law and Policy Centre.
Equal Hue Cricket, conceived under the Equal Hue project, is a collaborative effort involving the EqualHue team, GoSports Foundation and Meraki Sport & Entertainment. It is a pioneering initiative aimed at creating pathways for aspiring female cricketers from across the country, enabling them to start, stay in and succeed in the sport, while leaving a tangible impact on our country’s socio-economic fabric.
To coincide with Women’s Day 2022, the initiative has launched a tri-pronged programme to:
Engage girls through Under-16 tournaments in 12 cities
Enable those aged 16-23 with scholarships to continue in cricket by offering need based financial assistance and career support, and
Enhance excellence
Exhibition on Space Design
The Design Village (TDV) organised a space exhibition by 5th-semester students of the Space and Interior Design course. The themes of the exhibition were nature, varying from the tangible to the intangible, where students showcased their unique concept on the lines of Light, Movement, Sound, Patterns, Time and Emotion.
Faculty members including the co-founder of TDV, Saurabh Gupta were also present.
Online course in Product Management
The Kellogg Executive Education at Northwestern University has launched a 36-week online PG Certificate in Product Management. It has been launched to meet the increasing demand for trained product managers who can align all the stakeholders involved in developing and marketing a product while ensuring customer and commercial success for their products. This is the second executive education programme from Kellogg.
Programme for first-gen women learners
The upGrad, Asia’s higher Edtech company, in a remarkable move to support India’s women learners with the best education avenues, launches 100 per cent Vidya Shakti Scholarships. To encourage women to pursue learning and employment opportunities, the scholarship aims to offer quality higher education to the first generation and tribal women learners, women from the Armed force & Police force, female NGO workers, female journalists across tier 2 cities and beyond, and female wards of Defence & Police personnel, along with the blue-collared women candidates across Bharat.
Spearheaded by Dr Sanjay Kumar of upGrad, the company has partnered with 10+ renowned NGOs including, SEWA Bharat, Vidya Poshak, Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College and Anvarat Foundation among others, for the inaugural batch of women candidates in less-privileged circumstances who have been nominated for the scholarship programme based on their meritocracy. They will be offered programmes across Data Science and Digital Marketing disciplines as per their preferences.
State of hospitality and tourism sector
The Sanskriti School of Tourism and Hospitality organised webinar on Development and challanges in the hospitality and tourism sector after pandemic.
The hospitality and tourism sector is considered the backbone for economic growth, especially in developing countries and it is one of the worst hit sector during pandemic.
The webnair was aimed to assesses the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in India’s hospitality and tourism sector by addressing essential aspects such as current conditions and challenges as well as future perspects. Proffessor Ratan L Sahu (Principal, Dewan IHM, Meerut) was the keynote speaker of the webinar.
Exhibition on five-century-old unique craft KHETA
Textiles Ministry Secretary Shri Upendra Prasad Singh, inaugurated the first ever exhibition on five-century-old unique craft KHETA at National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi that will be open to public till April 3, 2022, 10 am to 5 pm.
The exhibition of embroidered (quilted) products in textile gallery of Crafts Museum showcases a live display of the craft by Shershabadi women, workshops for educational Institutions to learn the craft, Expert Talk(s), Film screening/Audio visual sessions providing insights into the long history and culture of Shershabadi community and as well as sale of Kheta Products from the Museum Shop.
The key objective of the exhibition is to establish Kheta as a unique embroidery and cultural identity of Shershabadi community, paving way for getting Geographical Indication (GI status), and encouraging economic empowerment of Shershabadis through skill practice and conservation in the villages.
It is organised by Zameen Astar Foundation (ZAF) and Azad India Foundation (AIF) in partnership with Crafts Museum, New Delhi.
