MoUs worth Rs 3,000 crore signed on Dhami’s third day in Britain

Memoranda of understanding for investments amounting to about Rs 3,000 crore were signed on the third day of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Britain visit on Thursday. In the run up to the global investors summit slated to be held in Dehradun in December, Dhami also attended a roadshow held in Birmingham where he met various industrialists. In London, the chief minister attended a meeting in which MoUs worth Rs 3,000 crore were signed between the State government and two companies. According to officials, an MoU worth Rs 2,000 crore was signed with Aager Technology. The company has agreed to invest in lithium battery plants in Uttarakhand. Another MoU worth Rs 1,000 crore was signed with Fira Barcelona. The Fira Barcelona is a noted group in Europe involved in convention centres and event management. Apart from this, two MoUs were signed with EaseMyTrip. The company has agreed to State dedicated online travel aggregator and promoting Uttarakhand at the global level as a tourist destination.

Secretary to the CM, R Meenakshi Sundaram, Industry director general Rohit Meena and other officials were present on the occasion.

 

In Birmingham, more than 250 delegates involved in education, information technology, health and manufacturing industry attended the roadshow I the presence of the CM. The delegates sought information from the State government representatives about the various policies in Uttarakhand. The chief minister also invited all the investors to the global investors summit to be hosted by the State in December. He also assured all the investors that the Uttarakhand government will provide full cooperation.

Dhami said that Birmingham is a historical city which also maintains a prominent place in the industrial sector. Thanking all the Indian and Uttarakhandi origin people in London and Birmingham for their affection, the CM said that Uttarakhand is situated in the lap of the Himalaya and is rich in various natural resources. The peaceful valleys and atmosphere conducive to work make the State different from others, he said. The CM further said that the theme of the global investors summit to be held in Dehradun during December is ‘Peace to Prosperity’. He also informed the delegates about the proximity of Uttarakhand to the national Capital along with better road, rail and air connectivity.

It will be recalled that earlier on the second day of the CM’s Britain tour, the State government signed MoUs worth Rs 4,800 crore with two companies. The State government has set a target of attracting Rs 2.5 lakh crore investment in the global investors summit to be held in Dehradun.
