The Vigilance police on Thursday intercepted Debiprasad Mohanty, Superintendent, Odisha State Warehousing Corporation (OSWC), Nahantara, Nimapada in Puri district with cash of Rs 2.14 lakh, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
The ant-graft agency which had information about Mohanty collecting illegal gratification, intercepted and seized the cash from him while he was waiting for a bus at the Nimapada bus-stand.
Soon after the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at Mohanty’s Government residential quarter, parental house at Daudpur, Salipur in Cuttack district and house at Mahanadi Vihar in Cuttack city. During personal search, Rs. 59, 610 was recovered from him. Further cash of Rs 1,94,200 was recovered from his residential quarter No-E-1/5, OSB Staff quarters, Unit-8 in Bhubaneswar. With this, the total cash recovered was Rs.4,67,810, which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Later, Mohanty was arrested and forwarded t court.
In another incident, Pranabahdhu Dandasena, GRS, Sunarisikuan GP under Khariar block in Nuapada district along with Kamalakanta Pradhan (a private person) of the same GP was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a person through Pradhan.
