Former BIS scientist gets five years in jail

A Nagpur-based special CBI court has sentenced a former scientist attached to the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to five years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case.

 While handing out five years’ jail term to Bipin Jambholkar, Scientific Cadre Officer- Grade-A, the then Scientist-C (Lot Cell), Nodal Officer, Enforcement and Legal Activities, BIS, the Special Judge for CBI cases, Nagpur, imposed a fine of Rs 1.10 lakh on him in the bribery case. 

            The CBI had registered a case on March 9,2015 against Jambholkar on allegations that said accused demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.15,000 for not going in appeal against the acquittal of the complainant by way of a verdict given on December 20, 2014 by the first class Judicial Magistrate,  Wardha.
