'Encourage displaced voters to exercise their voting rights'

Chief Electoral Officer K Ravi Kumar made a surprise inspection of various polling stations located in Jharia of Dhanbad Lok Sabha constituency and took stock of the minimum necessary facilities available there and the displaced voters on Thursday. The CEO directed the BLOs engaged in election work at the polling stations and took information from the observers about the preparations made at the polling stations.

In order to get information from the observers regarding the voters there, he asked that miking should be done to give necessary information related to voting to the voters whose names are registered in the voter list and who have shifted to another place. He also appealed to the voters to match their names with the voter list, at which polling station their name is, so that they can exercise their franchise.

Formation of Polling Station Awareness Group and information regarding service of volunteers and their work and shifting of voters to other places by matching the names of Absent, Displaced and Dead (ASD) with the voter list after finalizing the voter list. Taking note, he directed to motivate them to vote.

He inquired about the convenience of the voters at the polling station and the inconveniences being faced at the polling stations from the BLOs and observers present and directed to get all these rectified in time. Instructions were given to ensure provision of pure drinking water at polling stations on the day of polling and to make toilets functional after cleaning them.

The Chief Electoral Officer also became aware of the facilities for disabled and senior voters and directed to make the voting process easier by ensuring necessary arrangements for them on the day of voting. Dhanbad District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Madhavi Mishra and other officials were present during the inspection of polling stations.

He inspected Adarsh Shramik High School, Golakdih, Jharia. Booth numbers-227, 228, 242 and 243. He also inspected polling station numbers 216, 217, 220, 221, 222 and 224 of Middle School, North Kujama Jharia Zone-1.
