25 candidates in fray for Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat, one opts out

Friday, 10 May 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

On the final day of the withdrawal of nominations for the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha parliamentary constituency, one candidate opted out, resulting in a reduction of candidates to 25. Consequently, the requirement for two ballot units arose. To address this, a randomization process for additional ballot units was conducted at the Collectorate Auditorium in Jamshedpur.

The event was presided over by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, alongside Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) from all assembly constituencies and representatives from various political parties. The randomization process was conducted meticulously to ensure fairness and transparency in the allocation of additional ballot units.

After careful assessment, additional ballot units were allocated to all 1887 polling stations across the constituency. This step aims to facilitate smooth and efficient voting procedures during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Jamshedpur.

The randomization of additional ballot units underscores the Election Commission's commitment to conducting free and fair elections, ensuring that every voter's voice is heard and their choice is accurately reflected in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, Ananya Mittal conducted surprise inspections of various election-related facilities, including the Postal Ballot Polling Center, Strong Room, media cell, and material cell.

During the inspection of the postal ballot polling center at SDO office Dhalbhum and ITDA office, Deputy Development Commissioner Shri Manish Kumar accompanied Shri Mittal. They assessed the facilities, crowd management, and operational procedures, emphasizing the importance of maintaining separate lines for men and women voters and providing assistance through help desks.

Furthermore, a thorough examination of the Postal Ballot Strong Room at the Industry Center was conducted to ensure the proper maintenance of postal ballots after voting.

In addition to physical inspections, the District Election Officer emphasized the monitoring of social media, paid news, and political advertisements. The media and MCMC cell were directed to coordinate closely with the expenditure cell to enforce strict oversight on election-related expenses. Approval procedures for campaign activities, advertisements, and content dissemination were reiterated, underscoring the importance of transparency and compliance with electoral regulations.

During inspections of the material and personnel cells, preparations for polling party materials and overall election conduct were reviewed. Instructions were issued to ensure timely execution of tasks and adherence to election protocols.

The District Election Officer's proactive approach underscores the commitment to conducting free, fair, and transparent elections, safeguarding the democratic process in East Singhbhum.
