In a tragic incident, a pickup van carrying Baraatis (groom’s wedding party) overturned at Mundajor under the Lathikata police limits in Sundargarh district on Thursday night, killing at least three persons and leaving 15 others injured.
As per reports, the road accident took place when the victims were travelling to Lathikata from Jharkhand in the ill-fated vehicle to attend a wedding ceremony. The driver of the van lost control over the wheels, as a result of which it turned turtle.
The mishap killed three of them on the spot while the injured ones were rescued and admitted to the Rourkela Government Hospital for treatment.
Police seized the vehicle, recovered the bodies for postmortem and started an investigation into the incident.
