AIIMS Bhopal faculties participate in national symposium

Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has declared AIIMS Bhopal as the Centres of Excellence for treatment of rare diseases. Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has framed National Policy for Rare Diseases (NPRD), 2021 for patients suffering from rare diseases. Financial assistance up to Rs 50 lakh is provided to the patients suffering from any category of rare diseases for treatment in any of the Centres of Excellence (CoEs).

In this regard, a National Symposium on Rare Diseases: Challenges, Opportunities and Way Forward was organized by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in collaboration with World Health Organization from February 29 to March 01, 2024 at Udaipur, Rajasthan. Two faculties of AIIMS Bhopal who are members of Centre of excellence for rare diseases committee, attended the symposium.

Representatives from 12 CoEs from different states and State nodal officers attended this symposium along with officials of MOHFW, New Delhi. Panel discussions and discussion in groups were held to find out the ways to smoothen the ways for supporting the patients with rare diseases.
