BJP ruckus over JSSC exam paper leak issue

Friday, 01 March 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

On the fifth day of the budget session the JSSC paper leak issue was raised by BJP members both inside and outside the house at Jharkhand Assembly. Before the session proceedings, BJP MLAs once again demonstrated outside the House raising the issue of Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) paper leak. BJP MLA Anant Ojha said that this state government is not serious for the youth. That is why the government is not agreeing for CBI probe. He said that is the fault of those students who prepare for the exam for a long time and the exam gets cancelled after the paper leak even before the exam.

Countering the Bharatiya Janata Party's allegations, Congress said that the state government is capable of conducting an investigation and action has also been taken after the investigation. The investigation is also going on. In such a situation, the demand for a CBI inquiry is being made only to give it a political colour, whereas everyone knows what the conclusion of the CBI inquiry was on the JPSC scam case. Congress MLA Umashankar Akela said that BJP does not have any issue. That is why these people are protesting just to complete the formality.

CPI (ML) MLA Vinod Singh clearly said that if the state government wants, it can investigate any big or small case impartially. Many people have also been arrested in the paper leak case. But when BJP demanded a CBI investigation, he raised questions and said that BJP avoids saying anything on the matter of CBI or central agencies. Because the CBI had also investigated the JPSC case but nothing came out of it.

The BJP has been demanding a CBI probe on the JSSC paper leak for the past few days. On Wednesday,  on the demand of BJP MLAs for a CBI investigation, Labor Employment Department Minister Satyanand Bhokta said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the state government is investigating the entire matter. If the government is not satisfied with the SIT investigation, then it will consider conducting an investigation by another investigating agency.

Satyanand Bhokta, while talking to journalists outside the House, said that at present the investigation into the paper leak case is going in the right direction. There is no need to get a CBI investigation done for this.

The JSSC CGL examination was held on January 28, but its question paper was leaked ahead of the examination. Following this, the SIT was formed to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.

The Jharkhand government has constituted an SIT to investigate the question paper leak of the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination.

A special task force was formed under the leadership of Ranchi Sadar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjeev Kumar Besra. Many policemen, including four police inspectors, are included in the SIT.
