Hry CM approves 10 new projects under Rural Augmentation Water Supply programme 

Chandigarh: Haryana Government on Thursday decided to implement 10 new projects worth more than Rs 56.36 crore under Rural Augmentation Water Supply programme in 6 districts namely Sirsa, Hisar, Palwal, Mahendragarh, Jhajjar and Rewari. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar  accorded administrative approval for these projects to be implemented by the Public Health Engineering Department here in Chandigarh.

 

Punjab Speaker advocates diverse job opportunities to empower state’s youth

 Chandigarh:  Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday convened discussions with experts and officials to promote various occupations, including animal husbandry, fish husbandry, horse husbandry, dog husbandry, and dairy-related ventures. During a meeting held with representatives from the Animal Husbandry Department and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University’s Vice-Chancellor, Sandhwan underscored the significance of encouraging interested youth and farmers to explore occupations in these sectors. He highlighted the potential for individuals to lead fulfilling lives by embracing opportunities within animal-related industries. Acknowledging the concerns raised by MLAs regarding the need to promote auxiliary occupations in agriculture, Sandhwan emphasized the importance of providing special attention to these sectors to address the employment needs of the region effectively.

Majithia demands CBI probe into resignation of RERA chairman

Chandigarh: Demanding CBI probe into the resignation of Punjab Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) chairman Satya Gopal one year after his appointment, senior SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia on Thursday said: “There are reports that he was forced to resign after his personal assistant was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate”. Asserting that former Delhi bureaucrat Satya was AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s blue-eyed boy, Majithia said that he was appointed for a period of five years and his resignation after little over one year months in the job indicates there is more than meets the eye. “Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should also clarify why the former bureaucrat was shunted out in this manner,” said Majithia, adding that Satya was “acting like a money collection agent of AAP”.

Directions issued to expedite all levels of promotions in Pb Social Security Dept

Chandigarh: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr Baljit Kaur on Thursday instructed to expedite all levels of promotions in the Social Security Department. The Minister convened a meeting with department officials to accelerate employee promotions. She ordered swift resolution of pending promotion cases, including those from clerks and data entry operators to senior assistants, anganwadi workers to supervisors and supervisors to CDPOs.

Nangal-Bhakra shuttle train, carrying BBMB workers, derails, no casualty

Nangal Dam: The Nangal-Bhakra train, run by Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB), derailed on Thursday on the way from Nangal to Bhakra near Nehla village. No casualties are reported. The train runs between Nangal and Bhakra twice a day and carries BBMB employees working at Bhakra Dam. The police reached the spot and BBMB authorities are taking stock of reasons for the derailment.

Punjab Mahila Congress state executive meeting held

Chandigarh: All India Mahila Congress’s president Alka Lamba, addressing Punjab Mahila Congress State Executive Meeting on Thursday, stressed the importance of ‘Nari Nyay’ — an initiative to amplify the voices of marginalized women. Lamba highlighted the diminishing role of women under BJP rule, urging for collective action to reclaim rights. Emphasizing the essential role of Mahila Congress in bolstering grassroots support, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring lauded the efforts of party workers. Warring pledged unwavering support to Mahila Congress, recognizing its pivotal role in electoral success. Punjab Mahila Congress head Gursharan Kaur Randhawa expressed gratitude to attendees, affirming continued advocacy for women's rights.

International Animation Day celebrations at city’s various colleges

Chandigarh: Association Internationale du Film d’Animation International Animated Film Association (ASIFA), Chandigarh Chapter, and Chandigarh Design School, powered by SXILL (School of Experience Illusion and Life Learnings), on Thursday organized International Animation Day event at Post-Graduate College for Girls at Sector 11. Earlier, a similar event was held at PG College at Sector-46 as well as PG College for Girls at Sector 42 on January 31 and February 1, 2024, respectively; and at Government College for Arts Sector 10 in October 2023. The event is aimed at creating awareness of animation careers amongst students.

Hry Govt seeks feedback on online transfer policy amendment

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal on Thursday said that the State Government has decided to amend its Online Transfer Policy, 2020, with the aim of streamlining the process of employee transfers. The objective is to ensure equitable distribution of employees of a particular cadre at different places in a fair and transparent manner and to maximize job satisfaction among employees to improve departmental performance. Kaushal stated that to achieve this objective, the government has initiated a consultation process with Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments in Haryana. The State Government has invited views and suggestions from all concerned stakeholders before finalizing the amendment. Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments are requested to submit their feedback on the draft amendment within 15 days. 

Schedule for elections of Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee withdrawn

Chandigarh: The schedule for the elections of the "Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee," which was issued on Wednesday, was withdrawn on Thursday.  Haryana Gurdwara Election Commissioner Justice (retd) HS Bhalla stated that the Director of Secondary Education Department of Haryana has written a letter requesting them to withdraw the schedule of elections of the HSGMC. In the letter, it has been mentioned that the schedule of the elections falls between the annual examinations of the tenth and twelfth classes conducted by the CBSE and the Haryana School Education Board. Bhalla informed that while accepting the request, the schedule of the elections has been withdrawn in the interest of the students.

In budget 2024-25, provisions to be made for allocating Rs 25-25 crore for each assembly constituency: Dy CM

Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Thursday said that in the general budget of the year 2024, an allocation of Rs. 25-25 crore will be made for each assembly constituency to give more impetus to development.
