Cabinet nod to free electricity to Tana Bhagats

The Jharkhand Cabinet meeting was held at Project Bhawan on Thursday. The meeting was presided over by Chief Minister Champai Soren. The cabinet has decided that 200 units of free electricity will be given to Tana Bhagats.

Tana Bhagats, a small Oraon religious sect in Jharkhand known for being peaceful and their adherence to the Gandhian way of life, are up in arms, having participated in two violent protests this year. It has left the administration mystified and struggling to come up with an appropriate response. Subsidy will be available on usage of more than 200 units.

In the meeting, a target has been set to build 20 lakh Abua houses in the next 4 years. Former CM Hemant Soren had launched the scheme on November 15 to provide houses to the homeless and those who were deprived of the benefit under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Under this flagship scheme, beneficiaries will receive Rs 2 lakh in four installments to construct a three-room house in phases.

In another cabinet decision, Civil surgeons will be able to sanction an amount up to Rs 5 lakh for the treatment of serious illness. State employees will get Rs 5,000 for the uniform. Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam said that the state government bills will now be paperless. There will be online arrangements for bills.

Approval was given for the approval of “Jharkhand State University (Amendment) Bill, 2024 for the establishment of Sir JC Bose University, Giridih.

For the implementation of the nutrition campaign under the centrally sponsored “Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0”, approval was given for the creation of various posts on contract basis for the duration of the project for State level SPMU, District level Help Desk and Child Development Project level Help Desk.

Administrative approval was given for the repair work of PCC Lining and structures located on various chains of Patjor distributary, Haripur distributary and Raneshwar distributary coming out of Mayurakshi Left Bank Canal Scheme under Dumka district.

Administrative approval of Rs 639.2006 crore was given for the Pirtand Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme to provide irrigation facilities by lifting water through underground pipelines in Pirtand block under Giridih district.

Administrative approval was given for the second revised estimate of Rs 130,28.04 lakh for Ramrekha Reservoir Scheme. Approval was given to amend the medical reimbursement rules of employees/officers of various cadres of the state government. Special allowances of Instructor (Glider) / Flight Instructor Incharge (Glider) working permanently under the Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department (Civil Aviation Division) of the State Government were approved. Approval was given for upgradation of 166 government high schools to +2 high schools under Jharkhand state.
