CMD, CMPDI Manoj Kumar, inaugurated the three-day Coal India Inter Company Chess Tournament 2023-24 organized by CMPDI from 29.02.2024 to 02.03.2024 at “Rabindra Bhawan”, CMPDI, Ranchi on Thursday. On this occasion, Shankar Nagachari, (Technical/CRD); Ajay Kumar, Director (Technical/P&D); Satish Jha, Director (Technical/ES); Achyut Ghatak, Director (Technical/RD&T); A.K. Rana, Senior Advisor (Mining); other GM/HoDs, Officers Associations and Union representatives and employees were present. The CMD in his speech said that Chess game enhances cognitive abilities, logical thinking, and strategic capabilities and the game is played in every corner of the world transcending cultural and geographical barriers.
The Tournament will be played in a total of 7 rounds. Team championship will be declared after summing up the points scored by the best 4 players of each team. CMPDI is hosting the event and all Subsidiary companies of CIL i.e Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) -Sancatoria; Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL)-Dhanbad; Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) -Ranchi; Western Coalfields Limited (WCL)-Nagpur, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) -Bilaspur, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL)-Singrauli, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL)-Sambalpur and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL)-Kothagudem are participating in this mega event.
