Thursday, 14 March 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

In a shocking incident reported from Banda, a student of class 10 ended her life due to sexual harassment by a local youth.

She left behind a suicide note in which she named the youth.

On getting information, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. On the basis of the suicide note, the police registered a case against the accused and arrested him.

According to the reports, the incident took place in the Bisanda police station area of Banda. The class 10 student was sexually harassed by a youth from the village. He used to sexually assault the girl on her way to school and also threatened her with dire consequences if she did not call him on the phone.

When the family members of the girl learnt about this, they warned the youth but instead of stopping sexual harassment of the girl, he threatened to rape her.

Depressed by the youth’s threats and harassment, the girl committed suicide on Tuesday.

In the suicide note, the girl wrote, “I am sacrificing my life, he repeatedly threatens me that if I take his name before my parents or I will not accept his demands, he will not leave me and will also sexually assault me.”

The girl claimed that being unable to bear the trauma, she decided to end her life.

Station House Officer of Bisanda police station, Shyam Babu Shukla, said, “A suicide note has been found from the spot in which allegations have been made against a local youth and he has been arrested. Further investigations are on.”

Meanwhile in Pratapgarh, three persons, including a six-year-old girl, were killed and two women were seriously injured on Tuesday night when a car hit a Roadways bus on the Prayagraj-Lucknow highway.

The police said the incident took place near Bishia village in Hatigaon area when some people were going to Mangarh ashram from Prayagraj in a car.

Kunda Circle Officer Ajit Singh said that the car rammed into a Roadways bus and five persons, including two women, were injured.

The victims were rushed to a hospital where three of them – Anuj Goswami, 32, Vaishnavi Goswami, 25, and Gungun Goswami, 6 – were pronounced dead.

The condition of two women – Anita (40) and Twinkle (25) – was reportedly critical and they have been referred to Prayagraj for advanced treatment.
