A team of District Legal Services Authority, Ranchi today visited the Ratu gangrape victim’s house and assured all possible help to her and her family. Following media reports Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, Executive Chairman of Jharkhand High Court cum Jhalsa, took cognizance of the matter and ordered the DLSA to immediately provide assistance to the rape victim and her family.
In the light of the order, Judicial Commissioner-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Ranchi Diwakar Pandey directed the Secretary to provide all possible help to the victim girl, who was gang-raped by five youths.
DLSA Secretary Rakesh Ranjan formed a team and himself along with the team reached the victim's house in Bajra. There he met his mother and told her about legal aid and asked for all possible help. Also gave information about the compensation process. After leaving from there, the team went straight to Ratu police station and met the DSP and asked him to present the information related to the case in the court soon.
The team then reached Premashray located at Sirmatoli and inquired about the condition of the victim. The team included Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ranchi Rakesh Ranjan, P.L.Vs Pushpalata Devi and Sangeeta Devi.
After meeting the victim, DLSA Secretary has started the process of compensation under Jharkhand Victim Compensation Act. Also, PLB Sangeeta Devi has been appointed to support the victim. Who will assist her in the court process. Mamta Srivastava has been appointed as pro bono advocate, who will assist in the court. The victim will also be provided medical care by DLSA.
