Golghar’s recent renovation seamlessly blends heritage

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav dedicated Golghar, a heritage monument safeguarded by the Madhya Pradesh Archeology Department, transformed by the Tourism Department into a versatile art center. Dr. Yadav emphasized the timeless relevance of ancient centers of knowledge and science, praising the initiative to bridge past heritage with present-day aspirations. Originally named Gulshan-e-Alam, Golghar in Bhopal, constructed by Nawab Shahjahan Begum during the 19th century, earns its moniker from its distinctive circular structure.

Congratulating the Archeology and Tourism Department for the construction and dedication of the ancient heritage Golghar, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that there is a need to see Golghar and understand the technology of its construction. After renovation, this center will definitely become the center of public attraction. Among those present were MLA Bhagwan Das Sabnani, Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai, former Mayor Alok Sharma, Ashish Aggarwal, Municipal Corporation Bhopal Chairman Kishan Suryavanshi and art lovers and citizens.

Yadav lauded the innovative approach employed in the construction of architectural marvels like Golghar, emphasizing the rich legacy of exceptional engineering showcased by ancient constructions such as dams, monuments, and forts. He highlighted the meticulous planning involved in the creation of Bhojtal, the expansive lake in Bhopal, which incorporates efficient drainage systems to prevent overflow even during heavy rainfall. Constructed economically, the lake's design prioritizes the preservation of water resources, utilizing natural rocks to sustain its existence for centuries to come.

Chief Minister Yadav said that various constructions in Golghar are examples of excellent engineering. This old heritage has been given a new look through restoration. This is a matter of joy. The arrangement for sale of various goods here makes this center multipurpose. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav appreciated the presentation of the ancient singing art Char Bait in the programme and said that art centers should be utilized well for the preservation of arts.

Yadav said that craftsmen have been encouraged through local for vocal under PM Modi’s efficient leadership. Every district has its own specialty. Promotion and sale of various products is being done in about 700 districts of the country. The idea of ??the ancient market has been realized in a new form by connecting this ancient center of pride of Bhopal with the empowerment of women. The building has now been enlivened. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav and other guests also released the calendar published by Madhya Pradesh Archaeology, Tourism and Culture Council. At the outset, the guests were welcomed with gifts of saplings.

Yadav dedicated the renovated Golghar and visited various galleries. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also got a glimpse of History of Bhopal through VR (Virtual Reality) headset. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav met Raj Saini, Dheeraj Prajapati and other artists associated with painting and clay crafts, saw their art demonstrations and praised their skills. Managing Director of Tourism Corporation Ilaiah Raja.T, Archaeological Commissioner Urmila Shukla and officials were present in the programme.

Features of newly renovated Golghar-

Art and Craft Center was developed in the galleries of Golghar Memorial.

Arrangements have been made to provide a platform to the artists to preserve the old crafts of Bhopal.

Items made by local artists and artisans will be available for sale here. Handicrafts produced by women groups have been given priority.

Golghar has again been decorated and developed as a gift to the city of Bhopal as per the original concept of historical heritage. It will also become a center of attraction for tourists.
