Keonjhar: The Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar convicted
Banchhanidhi Satpathy, former Revenue Inspector, Raisuan Circle under Sadar Tehsil in Keonjhar district in a graft case and sentenced him to undergo four years’ rigorous imprisonment (RI). The court also asked the convict to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 and in default to undergo another two months’ imprisonment. Satpathy was charge-sheeted by the Vigilance police for accepting bribe from a person for demarcation of his land.
UMARKOTE SDPO TO GET DGP DISC
Nabarangpur: Umarkote SDPO Madhushikta Mishra has been nominated for the prestigious DGP Disc Award for her bravery and distinguished service. Mishra is well-known in Umarkote in Nabarangpur district for her excellent work style and behaviour. A notification from the State Police Headquarters has been published in this connection. After the news spread, well-wishes poured in from various quarters to wish her. She would be honoured with the award on April 1 at the Odisha Police Headquarters in Cuttack.
TEACHER HELD FOR MISBEHAVING WITH GIRL IN GAJAPATI
Paralakhmundi: Police have arrested a teacher of the Badasindhaba High School of Mohana block in Gjapati district on the charge of misbehaving with a girl student. After receiving a complaint from the victim, the Mohana police took the teacher into custody; and during interrogation, he confessed to the crime, following which he was forwarded to court. Mohana BEO Narendra Behera started an investigation into the matter. However, no action has been taken against the teacher by the concerned department.
14 INJURED IN BEE ATTACK IN GAJAPATI
Paralakhemundi: As many as 14 persons were injured at Kharimera village under Mohana block of Gajapati district in honey bee attack on Saturday. Some persons had gone to clean a field. While they were cooking food, a swarm of bees attacked them. Though they tried to run away from the spot, the bees chased them. Locals rushed the injured to the Mohana CHC.
