Newlywed bride’s body seized from tree

--Deceased married just 8 days back

: Just eight days after marriage, a newlywed bride was found hanging at Uparbeda village under Soro police limits in Baleswar district.
 
The deceased woman was identified as Gouri Muduli (22), wife of Basant Singh of Uparbeda village. The newlywed bride was found hanging from a tree near her in-laws’ house in the village on Monday morning.
 
According to reports, the wedding of Gouri of Kupari village under Khaira police limits was solemnized with Basant Singh on March 16 as per Hindu tradition. As part of the ‘Astamangala’ ritual, Gouri visited her father’s house on the eighth day of her marriage and returned to her in-laws’ house on Sunday afternoon.
 
The locals found her hanging from a ‘sal’ tree with a saree around her neck near the house the next morning.
 
Police reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it to the Soro hospital for post-mortem.
 
It is yet to be ascertained whether she died by suicide, or it was a murder case. The police were investigating the incident from all angles.
