The relentless efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath yielded swift results as Lucknow resident Akhilesh Singh Chauhan, a mechanic and supervisor, who was abducted in Meghalaya, was safely rescued within a day.
Following this, Akhilesh Chauhan’s wife Sheela Singh Chauhan and son Suraj Chauhan expressed gratitude to the chief minister by meeting him at his official residence on Friday. The chief minister assured Akhilesh Chauhan’s family of all possible support.
A resident of Beniganj, Kursi Road, here, Akhilesh Singh Chauhan works in a construction company in the South Garo Hills of Meghalaya. Criminals had kidnapped him and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh. After the matter came to light, Chief Minister Yogi spoke to his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad Sangma on Thursday evening and urged him for the release of Akhilesh Chauhan.
Following this, the Meghalaya Police took action and successfully rescued Akhilesh Chauhan from the jungle of South Garo Hills (Baghmara district) and also arrested two kidnappers.
Both the kidnappers wanted to extort Rs 50 lakh from the construction company in exchange for Akhilesh Chauhan’s release.
