RSB Transmissions receives coveted Deming Prize

The auto division of RSB Transmissions (I) ltd (with manufacturing plants in Pune, Jamshedpur and Uttarakhand), the flagship company of RSB Group, was conferred with the Deming Prize, one of the highest awards in TQM (Total Quality Management) in the world, by JUSE (Union of Japanese Scientists & Engineers) at Tokyo on November 13.

RK Behera, chairman, RSB Group, received the coveted Deming Prize from Masahiro Sakane, vice chairman, Deming Prize Committee, JUSE, at Keidnanren Hall, Tokyo Japan.  M Sankaranarayanan president – Auto Vertical and G Krishnasami, vice president TQM were also present at the ceremony. Deming Prize is an annual award given by JUSE to organizations that successfully implement TQM (Total Quality Management) practices. It is one of the most coveted and prestigious awards in the world in the field of management practices. RSB is the only Indian company to win this award in 2013.

Accepting the award, RK Behera said that TQM implementation has resulted in significant improvements in all performance indicators. He further added that TQM is thoroughly institutionalized at RSB and embedded into the gene of every employee. SK Behera, vice chairman and managing director, who was involved in every stage of RSB’s Deming TQM journey said that “At RSB quality has no finish line. We will always continue to enhance our quality, technology and management practices to delight our stakeholders”. He also took the opportunity to congratulate the RSB Team for its commitment and hard work. He further added that in a few years, the company will vie for the highest Deming Award — The Deming Grand Prize.

Presently, it has 13 manufacturing plants spread over 7 locations in India, namely Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Pune (Maharashtra), Dharwad (Karnataka), Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), Cuttack (Orissa) and lucknow (Uttar Pradesh); and one each in Homer (USA), Tessenderlo (Belgium) and Silao (Mexico).

RSB operates in two verticals, namely Automotive and CMI (Construction, Mining & Infrastructure) Equipments & Aggregates. In the Automotive vertical, RSB is a leading global manufacturer of Propeller Shaft Systems & Components, an array of Axles including Front Axle, Trailer Axle, Tractor Axle, Dummy Axle & Axle Beam, Fully Finished Gears, Shafts, Hubs & Sleeves and Transmission Components like Differential Cases, Yokes and Carriers for medium and heavy commercial vehicles, passenger cars, tractors and light commercial vehicles.
