Exit polls predict BJP's grand entry, Cong's unceremonious exit

Congress in the Capital faces complete rout as all the exit polls survey released on Monday evening predicted BJP winning all the seven seats. None of the TV surveys have given even a semblance of chance to Congress in Delhi where it ruled for 15 long years.

Interestingly, Congress had won all the seven seats in 2009 and the reversal at the hustings was expected as there was growing disenchantment with the Congress among the city voters. In recently held Delhi Assembly elections, the Congress barely managed to get eight seats. The surveys also brought disappointment for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as they also forecasted its dismal performance.

According to News24-Today’s Chanakya exit poll prediction, the BJP’s all set to win all the seven seats (plus or minus one seat). The AAP is predicted to draw a blank (plus or minus one seat) while the Congress, it is predicted, will not even open an account in the national Capital. As per prediction, the BJP is set to poll 39 per cent of the votes (plus or minus 3 per cent), AAP is predicted to poll 31 per cent of the votes (plus or minus 3 per cent) while the Congress will be a poor third with just 20 per cent of the votes (plus or minus 3 per cent). News24-Today’s Chanakya exit polls have hit the bull’s-eye with their predictions of election results in the Delhi Assembly polls in December 2013.

The CNN-IBN-CSDS-lokniti gave the BJP 5-7 seats in Delhi, while the AAP was predicted to win 0-2 seats. The Today Group-CICERO National survey gave 5-7 seats to BJP while the AAP was predicted to win two seats. TimesNow-ORG gives all seven seats to BJP. ABP-AC Nielsen survey gave 5 seats to BJP and two to AAP. Zee-Taleem survey also predicted 5-7 seats to BJP and two to AAP.As part of its blitzkrieg campaign, the BJP had conducted a number of programmes, including Chai pe Charcha with Modi, a rally in North-East Delhi’s Shastri Park and even tried to woo the minority community by starting a number of initiatives for them. The outcome of the polls survey clearly indicates that the endeavour made by the party has yielded results.
