Thursday, 31 July 2014 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

The State Government has decided to implement e-Registration of land records to prevent land related scams in the State, officials said on Wednesday.

The move would also help the people to protect their land from encroachment. The ‘e-Registration system’ has already been implemented on a pilot basis in Bilaspur, Raipur and Durg.If the system had been implemented successfully in Bilaspur, Raipur and Durg, and would now be implemented in other districts of the State, officials said. From the next financial year onwards, the system would be introduced  in all the districts as a pilot project and registration of land would be carried out online.

Officials said that with the introduction of the system, the rush at the office of the Registrar will come down drastically while providing much needed relief to the people. No more, the people will need to wander from one place to other for registration. The details of the record could also be accessed online. Even the finger impression will also be incorporated in the record. This will bring transparency in the registration process, officials stated.

The computer software will, on its own, calculate the stamp duty on the basis of stored data so that people can pay it online. If anyone provides incomplete information, the system will automatically provide an option and ask the user to meet the shortfall. One can register his or her properties only after  providing all the required details.

Even while using the system, one can know the market price of a land located at any location of the State.
