Haryana Government has selected Wipro for deploying Tax Management System for its department of Excise and Taxation.
“There was a huge revenue loss due to pilferage of taxes for the last so many years and to plug such malpractices, we have hired a renowned IT company ‘Wipro’ for complete computerisation of our tax infrastructure,” said Hanuman Singh, Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner.Singh added that a formal contract of `115 crore has also been signed with the company on January 29 this year for ‘Commercial Taxes MMP (mission mode project)’ and the company had assured the department that it would complete this project within 72 weeks.
Giving details of the project, Singh said that in this project, we have asked them to add VAT Macs (Value Added Tax Management, Assessment, and Collection System) on priority basis. “This system includes not only the Dealers’ Registration but also MIS, Reconciliation of receipts with treasuries besides integration with TINXSYS (Tax Information and Exchange System). In other words, everything would be online,” he said.
“After the successful launching of this project, dealers need not to come at our office even for the registration of his company, filing his quarterly returns, payment of taxes or even for refunding of their securities, if any. They would be able to do all these things from their residences,” he added.At present, the Excise and Taxation department is collecting numbers of taxes including the Haryana Value Added Tax (VAT), the Central Sales Tax (CST), the Haryana local Area Development (lAD) Tax, the Haryana tax on the Punjab entertainments duty act, the Punjab Excise Act as applicable to Haryana, the Haryana tax on luxuries act, 2007, the Haryana tax on entry of goods into local areas act, 2008.
“We are putting all these things online in future”, said Singh.Regarding IT equipments, Singh added that the company would provide lAN equipment, servers, OS Software, database software, firewalls, e-Mail, FTP, web applications and other office automation software or hardware, which are absolute necessary for achieving the ultimate object of increasing efficiency in functioning of the department and facilitating public in interacting with the department.
“This system would not only assist the department in plugging pilferage of taxes and increasing the revenue of the state but also helpful in bringing more efficiency, transparency and time saving in the daily routine work of the department even,” added Singh.
