SEM website to display skilled persons' lists

The State Employment Mission (SEM) will henceforth display the list of trained persons like drivers, home nurses and gardeners so that their employment chances in domestic and commercial sectors would be jacked up.

Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra directed the Mission to take initiatives to this effect soon while presiding over its Project Approval Committee meeting held at the Secretariat on Wednesday. SEM Director Shalini Pandit was present.

Mohapatra asked the Mission to publicise the facility in its website so that the interested employers can get information about the trained persons.The employers would make necessary security and quality checks as per their requirements.

The Committee approved three new skill development proposals, which would be implemented during this year. The Women and Child Development Department’s proposal for providing skill training to disabled persons has been approved.

It was decided that a total of 280 such persons would be trained in the trades like tally, basic computer, domestic appliances repairing and soft skill through Vocational Rehabilitation Center for the Handicapped. A total amount of `64.20 lakh would be spent for the purpose.

Similarly, the Tourism and Culture Department’s proposal worth `31.12 lakh for providing skill development training in hospitality sector like hospitality assistant, assistant cook, bell boy assistant steward, and Indian cuisine cook waiter and house keeping was approved. The trainings will be imparted through Institute of Hotel Management, Bolangir .

The Commerce and Transport Department’s proposal for giving light motor vehicle (lMV) driver training to 10,000 persons have got the Committee’s nod.

The youths would be provided training through Government Driving Training School. The total amount to be spent was estimated at `4.85 crore. Besides, it was decided that 1,000 persons would be given heavy vehicle driving training.
