Sunday, 31 August 2014 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

A tutor was arrested for raping and sending pornographic videos to a Class VII student in East Delhi’s Mandawali area. Afraid of the embarrassment, the girl drank a bottle of disinfectant in an attempt to commit suicide. The accused, identified as Johnson, alias Raja was later arrested by police.

According to police, the incident took place on Thursday when the victim’s mother saw pornographic videos and images sent by the tutor on her daughter’s phone. When her husband returned home, she narrated the incident to him, following which they confronted their daughter. The 13-yea- old victim revealed to her parents that the tutor used to sexually assault her and send her pornographic videos. She got so scared she even drank disinfectant.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where her condition is stated to be stable. Police was informed by hospital authorities. A medical examination of the victim was conducted and rape was confirmed after which a case under relevant Sections was registered. The victim was going for tuitions for over two years to the same tutor. Generally Raja came to the victim’s residence but on some occasions, he also called the victim over to his place where he assaulted her and showed her smut videos on the computer. He used to then assault her and threaten her of dire consequences.

Raja also worked as a typist at the Delhi HC and gave tuitions on a part-time basis. Police officials are now investigating if Raja has any previous involvements. Further investigations are underway.
