FOUR KIllED IN A EXPlOSION AT A CRACKER MAKINGUNIT

Four persons, including a minor, were killed in a powerful explosion at a cracker manufacturing unit in Gosaiganj area of Sultanpur on Tuesday morning.

As per reports, a gas cylinder caught fire and exploded while crackers were being made at the unit located in in Saifullaganj area of Sultanpur. 

The blast left Aleemuddin (60), Anwari (56), Gudiya (25) and Khushboo (8) dead, while half a dozen others suffered serious burns. The injured were rushed to a nearby district hospital where the condition of three of them was stated to be critical.

After preliminary investigation, police claimed that the house in which crackers were being made was badly damaged. While the unit had a licence for making crackers, it is being probed whether requisite safety measures were in place. The presence of a gas cylinder at the unit was also being looked into. A case has been registered in this regard and bodies were sent for the post-mortem examination.
