Implement PCPNDT Act strictly: Collector

The district administration has stepped in to ensure that the guidelines on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act are followed strictly.

In a meeting called by the Collector Alarmelmangai D on Saturday, officials were instructed to check the doctor’s report, identify and address proof of a pregnant woman before her Sonography in conducted.

The Centre managers should be made aware of this information. The purpose behind the installation of active tracker machines by the government authorities in the 23 sonography centres here is for keeping a watch, she said.

The Collector asked the centre managers not to allow the Sonography of a pregnant woman without the doctor’s advice. Moreover, they were ordered to do the online reporting regarding every Sonography case by filling the details of the pregnant woman in the ‘Form F’ application.

Also, she told the doctors to suggest the pregnant woman of producing the address proof to the Centre Manager before undergoing Sonography.

In case of serious health condition of a pregnant woman, the Collector directed to consult the district hospital immediately and seek the advice of doctor prior to any kind of diagnostics is conducted on the patient.

The centre managers were also urged to provide pure drinking water, clean toilets and proper sitting arrangements for the patients and their attendants.

Notably, Raigarh district has been chosen among the ‘Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao’ Campaign districts.

The district administration is making efforts of promoting the girl child since the population of girls aged between zero to six years is low here.
