The mobile telephony remained suspended in north Kashmir’s Sopore belt for the fourth consecutive day on Saturday even as Jammu & Kashmir Police Chief K Rajendra vowed to restore the services albeit without specifying any time frame.
The cellphone services have been snapped in restive Sopore after militants belonging to so-far unknown group lashkar-e-Islam killed two persons associated with the cellphone trade in four separate attacks during past week. The outfit warned to dismantle all mobile towers in the area and banned all trading associated with the telephony. One of the victims was owner of land provided for erecting a tower and another was working at a franchisee of the state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam limited.
“We can’t allow this (ban on telecommunication) to continue further. We are investigating the matter”, DGP Rajendra told reporters here.
