NMDC ltd will install 200KVA and 250KVA, 415 volt capacity Diesel Generator (DG) sets at its Hospital and Service Center at Bailadila Iron Ore Mine (BIOM), Kirandul Complex in Dantewada district of Bastar.
Notably, the company as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative has taken up three key projects in insurgency infested Dantewada district of Bastar region in Chhattisgarh, officials stated.
The work involves construction of teachers’ quarters at Bhansi Panchayat , construction of Boys Ashram Building at Madkapara- Duggeli and construction of a School Building at Bade Bacheli, officials stated.
Notably, NMDC is already also participating in the ‘Harihar Chhattisgarh’ road-side tree plantation programme and contributed `10.97 crore and 10.30 crore in 2015-16 and 2014-15 respectively, officials stated.
The company has been taking up afforestation on a planned pattern in consultation with Divisional Forest Officer (Social forestry) of concerned areas with the objectives such as increasing the density around the project and township, stabilisation of degraded lands and waste dumps for preventing soil erosion, rehabilitated of mined out areas, improving the condition of the catchment areas and stream courses and aesthetic look of the township areas at the Bailadila mining complex and its other complexes across the country, they stated.
NMDC has also adopted strategies for climate change mitigation such as identifying and evaluating climate change risks for each business, reduce the environmental impact of processes, products and services and is working towards creating a positive environmental footprint, adoption of a low-carbon growth path through reduction in specific energy consumption and enhancing use of renewable energy sources and reducing specific water consumption on sites.
