The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar organised a ‘Unity Run’ (a mini marathon) here on Saturday on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The event was held as part of a week-long celebration of the Rashtriya Ekta Saptah of the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development.
IIT Director Prof RV Raja Kumar offered floral tribute to Sardar Patel and flagged off the run. Olympian Anuradha Biswal was present as guest of honour.
The marathon was started from the IIT Main Gate at Argul and covered a distance of 6 km to the Khordha railway station. Around 700 students, staffs and faculties along with the guests took part in the event.
Student Affairs Dean Prof VR Pedireddi, Registrar Dr D Gunasekaran and Deputy Registrar Debaraj Rath, Khordha Additional Divisional Railway Manager, SP Dwivedi and Jatni Tehsildar Bijay Swain participated in the marathon and encouraged the students throughout the process.
