Students' union poll results of MKP (PG) declared

Results of the student body election in MKP (PG) College were declared after recounting of votes on Tuesday.

A total of 818 out of 2570 voters turned up to cast votes in the students union election in the college. The ABVP candidate Sakshi Shankar was elected to the presidential post by seven votes in this college. NSUI members led by Swati Negi met the college principal and election officer and demanded recounting of votes alleging irregularities in counting. They raised slogans against the election officers for allegedly not conducting fair election in the college. However, after recounting of votes the ABVP candidate Shakshi was again declared winner. 

 With the deployment of adequate police forces, the polling in MKP (PG) College was held peacefully starting at 10 am. About 11.30 am, large number of students were seen standing in queue outside polling room. Some voters were very excited while exercising their vote first time. Candidates and their supporters were witnessed outside the campus approaching the voters to cast vote in their favour.

College election officer Geeta Balodi said that polling began at 10 am and ended at 2 pm. The counting of votes began at 3 pm and ended at about 5 pm though a recount was conducted taking cognizance of some students alleging anomalies. A total of 27 candidates including three candidates for presidential post, two for vice president, two for general secretary and six for executive members were in fray for different posts of students’ union election in the college.

 votes while 152 votes were cast in favour of Safiya Dheer for the post of vice president.

Aarti won the election to the post of general secretary by securing 450 votes following by Akansha who secured 354 votes. Jasmin won the election to the post of joint secretary by securing 492 votes with Jyoti as runner up with 303 votes. Buddhi  won the election to the post of treasurer by securing 397 votes while Priyanjali was runner up with 244 votes and Richa secured third position with 199 votes. Vaishali Yadav won the election to the post of university representative by securing 404 votes while Shivani was runner up with 303 votes and Isha Khanduri secured 199 votes.
