After the success of Pitchers and Permanent roommates, TVF (The Viral Fever) is back with yet another web series named Tripling. Ankita Jain and Unnati Joshi report
The series is about a sibling trio, who set off on a road trip to meet their parents. They seem to have found an outlet in the road-trip for their dysfunctional personal lives played by Sumeet Vyas as Chandan Sharma, Maanvi Gagroo as Chanchal Sharma Painyuli and Amol Parashar as Chitvan Sharma.
The 'oh so cool' Mikesh aka Sumeet Vyas of Permanent Roommates plays a man who's going through a divorce back in the US and has been rendered homeless while Maanvi Gagroo, who amazed us in Pitchers, is seen as the neglected sibling who just wants to be heard. The most cheerful of the lot is Amol Parashkar, last seen in the Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Traffic, he plays a DJ here.
“The show is about a road trip that three siblings take together. And it's not a planned trip but an accidental trip that happened to them. Through this trip they discover themselves; they get some perspective in life. When we thought of a series on road trip, obviously the first idea was to ride with friends and then I realised why can’t we try it with siblings, it’s never been done before and siblings are the best friends we have. And that was the idea behind it,” said Sumeet Vyas who is also the co-writer of the series.
“I loved the script, it connects to the real world. Chanchal is the character I am playing. She is as chanchal as the name says but is somewhere unhappy about her royal life. Indian royal life comes with ghughats and many other restrictions and since, Chanchal is a modern woman with open upbringings, it is being difficult for her to survive in that environment”, said Manvi Gagroo. She further added that, “It is a pure coincidence that the moment I got back from the shoot of Tripling, my sister planned a trip which will involve just me and her in the month of December. I am way too excited about the trip; it will be my first vacation with my sibling finally.”
Amol Parashar is new to the world of web-series, Tripling being his first, he talked about the bond he shared with the other lead actors Sumeet and Manvi, “The best part about working with Sumeet and Manvi is, we all know each other for long through various plays done together. We are aware of the strength and weaknesses of each other like the way siblings do”.
When asked about the germ of idea behind the names of the characters, Sumeet told us, “I was at my sister’s place and a friend of hers had come over. He was a really cool looking guy, all scented and I started guessing his name in my head, may be a Rockey I thought. He turned around and said my name is Chitvan and I found it very funny. Then I thought let's name the youngest brother Chitvan and then later we named the other characters”.
“Chitvan is a guy every youngster looks up to, a fun guy with no prior planning. Moreover, the road trip was not as much fun as it looks like on the screen, we go through various challenges like heat and various camera angles”, said Amol further elaborating his character.
The trailer which seemed more like an elaborate commercial is gaining good response from the viewers. This TVF’s new offering has been filmed extensively across Mumbai, Jodhpur and Manali.
The show which premiered on 28 August on The Viral Fever’s streaming platform TVF Play with its first episode ‘toh chalein’ with a typical TVF approach- a mishap by the main character, slow entry of the second one and finally a cliffhanger at the end. The dialogues and the desserts in Jodhpur have been beautifully framed. Also, their web-series have been inspiring to many, be it stimulating entrepreneurship throughPitchers or breaking the taboo of live-In relationship by Permanent Roommates, similar message is being expected by the viewers through Tripling as well.
