DSS to start training-based courses

Friday, 30 June 2017 | PNS | Ranchi

Devkamal Sigma Skills (DSS) is going to introduce new training-based courses in healthcare and hospitality sector under the National Skill Development Programme. The healthcare sector will include ‘Operation Theatre Technicians’ and ‘Health homecare providers’, whereas the hospitality sector will include ‘Food and Beverages Managers’ and ‘Housekeeping Executives’. The batches for health care courses are expected to start from July 17 and for hospitality from July 10.

The trainees in healthcare sector will be trained and placed in various renowned hospitals around the city, where they will also be provided with proper stipend during the internship. “Being a doctor and CEO of a hospital I know that a job ready employee is rarely available. We generally have to re-train them. In these courses started by DSS especially in hospitality sector I will personally overview the progress of the trainees.” said Anant Sinha, Director, DSS.

For hospitality sector, DSS has collaborated with Enviro Skills, Educational Institution in Goa for a unique training programme where the students will be doing 11 months apprenticeship in Goa. During the apprenticeship period the students will also be provided with a stipend of Rs. 6000- Rs.7000 along with free food and accommodation. “This initiative aims to cover the course fee by means of the stipend that will be provided during the apprenticeship. We have also tied up with the banks to provide loans to the economically weak students,” he further added.

Along with the 11 months apprenticeship, Manipal City Guilds will provide certification to the students which will prove to be an added advantage for them.
