Explosives seized; B'ngir trader held

Thursday, 30 November 2017 | PNS | BALANGIR

The Balangir police have seized 67,500 electrical detonators (ED) from possession of former BJP leader Muralilal Agrawal of Kantabanji. This was announced to mediapersons by SDPO Narayan Naik on Wednesday.

Agrawal has licence to keep ED. However, he kept a huge amount of explosive materials illegally in a van, Nayak informed.

Agrawal used to bring explosives from Nagpur, Raipur and Rourkela and was carrying out his explosives trade in Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh and Boudh districts.

Asked about Agarwal’s link with the Maoists, the SDPO said so far there was no information. The Balangir police had arrested Sudam Mahaling, Mahesh Agrawal and his father Murari lal Agrawal of Kantabanji in connection with illegal storage and trading of explosives in the district earlier.
