Govt bends under farmers' stir, cancels NOC in Pendravan

The State Government has cancelled the No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued to a cement plant for mining in Pendravan water reservoir area of Raipur district, an official statement informed here.

In the larger interest of farmers, Chief Minister has ordered Water Resource Department to immediately cancel the NOC issued. Singh had asked Agriculture and Water Resource Department Minister Brijmohan Agrawal to personally visit Pendravan and inform the farmers about State Government's decision in the context.

Agrawal reached there on Thursday evening and announced this state government's decision of cancelling NOC issued, in a farmers meeting held at rest house near Pendravan water reservoir.

Farmers have welcomed the decision and Kisaan Sangarsh Samiti has called off their strike. Agrawal said that State Government is committed to protect the interests of farmers.

State Government is making dedicated efforts to achieve the target given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double the income of farmers in next five years.

In the same sequence, irrigation facilities are being expanded. In the meeting, MlA of Dharsiva area Devji Bhai Patel and Aarang MlA Naveen Markandey were also present.

Agriculture and Water Resource Minister Agrawal informed farmers in the meeting that State Government has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for canal lining and rest house construction of Pendravan Water Reservoir.

Tender of Rs 17 crore has already been floated while tender of nearly Rs 20 crore is in process. This place will be developed as tourist spot.
