Haryana Government has chalked out a scheme to permanently resolve the problem of unauthorised colonies in the state.
The scheme will be announced by the end of this month, said Haryana Urban local Bodies Minister, Kavita Jain on Monday
The Minister said that necessary provisions have been made in the scheme to provide facilities to the people already residing in the unauthorised colonies and also, to ensure that such colonies might not develop in future.
Jain informed this while reviewing the implementation of various schemes in Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Municipalities of Ambala Division during a divisional level workshop organised in Ambala.
She directed the officers to ensure timely implementation of schemes, keep a check on corruption and also, bring transparency in the work.
Jain said that local councilors should be taken into faith while preparing schemes as they have better information about the people’s problem and geographical situation of the area. The State Government is not only ensuring effective implementation of schemes of both Central and State Governments but also making sure that the benefits of these schemes reach to the beneficiaries at the grass root level, she added.
She said that under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme of the Central Government, special emphasis is being given on the infrastructure facilities, drinking water, sewerage and parks in urban areas. 18 districts including Ambala has been selected under this, she added.
The Central Government has approved a sum of Rs 2565.74 crore for these districts which included Rs 1405 crore for sewerage, Rs 487.75 crore for drinking water, Rs 464.24 crore for rain water drainage, Rs 104.64 crore for urban transportation and Rs 103.39 crore for parks and their beautification. This amount would be spent in three phases, the Minister said.
Under the Swatch Bharat Mission, she said that the state has been divided into 15 clusters for waste management. For Ambala Cluster which comprised of Ambala Municipal Corporation, Thanesar and Cheeka Municipalities, waste management plant would be set up in Ambala through which electricity would also be generated. Waste of Karnal cluster after its management in the local plant would be taken to Ambala plant everyday so as to meet the requirement of required capacity of fuel for electricity generation, she informed.
