The Chhattisgarh Government on Thursday cancelled the No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted for limestone mining lease near catchment area of Pendravan water reservoir to the Ultra Tech Cement Company in the Dharsiva Development Block.
Water Resources Minister Brijmohan Agrawal announced the declaration of cancellation of NOC to the private cement company. The Minister was accompanied by Dharsiva MlA Devji Bhai Patel.
It needs to be mentioned that in the year 2008, Department of Mining , Chhattisgarh Government granted permission for mineral mining lease in 6.89 sq km area near 104 years old Pendravan water reservoir which is a high percentage dam whereas the then secretary of Water Resource Department had issued No Objection Certificate (NOC) .
On October 2015, the villagers and farmers of Dharsiva region had opposed the mining lease to private cement company during public hearing held by Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board.
