Why fear if innocent: Pratap asks Golak

Tuesday, 31 October 2017 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

In a sharp reaction to BJP State spokesperson Golak Mohapatra’s media statement vis-à-vis the Chhatrapur Councillor laxmidatta Pradhan murder case, the BJD on Monday said that Mohaptra needn’t be worried as investigation has not started yet and should not blame ruling party leaders and the Ganjam SP for the arrested accused persons allegedly naming him to be their protector.

Addressing a Press meet, BJD vice-president and MP Pratap Keshari Deb put some questions to the BJP. He wanted to know who booked a room in a Government Guest House of the BJP-ruled Uttarakhand as it is not possible for the accused to do so for themselves to stay there.

A Government Guest House can be booked for an administrative officer or a present or former political leader.

He also said that it should be made clear whether the two accused were in contact with BJP leaders while staying in Dehradun.

“While BJP leader and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has already stated that the main accused has joined his party and let the law take its own course, it isn’t understood why the BJP is raising fingers at the BJD,” he said.

Deb wanted to know why Golak Mohapatra is saying he has not provided any protection to the accused when the Police have not taken the accused on remand and called him for interrogation. “If Golakbabu is innocent, he should not fear but remain ready to cooperate in police investigation. Why he is making statements in the media,” wanted to know Deb futher.

Among others, another party spokesperson Sasmit Patra and State secretary Bijay Nayak were present.
