5 MoUs signed for skill development in State

FICCI, Schneider Electric, Yes Consultants, Tech Mahindra, Employability Bridge involved

Apart from an MoU signed between the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) and the ITE Educational Services (ITEES), Singapore on Monday, five more MoUs were signed with different skill development institutions in the Make in Odisha Conclave here on Tuesday.

As per the MoUs signed on Tuesday, the FICCI and the OSDA would create and strengthen employers’ engagement programmes to promote a robust ecosystem of training and recruitment.

Under the ‘Engage’ programme, the FICCI would facilitate and develop a framework for creating awareness about apprenticeship training, especially National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and develop a pool of 'skilled master trainers' in Odisha. It will facilitate and integrate ‘career counselling” in existing institutions/training centers.

The L Schneider Electric India Foundation, Bangalore will set up modem electrical labs at the Government ITI, Cuttack, which would benefit 441 electrician trade trainees of the institute. The Government ITI s at Brahmapur and Hirakud would be supported in a phased manner.

The Yess Consultants, Delhi, the Tech Mahindra Limited, Pune and Employability Bridge/Surgeforth Technologies Private Ltd, Chennai will separately collaborate with the Central Placement Cell of the DTET, Odisha for placement of the students pursuing Diploma Education & ITI training in reputed organisations.

A session on “Skilled in Odisha: Skilled for future” was organised at the Make in Odisha conclave where field experts participated.

As per the MoU, the OSDA would set up a World Skill Centre(WSC) at the 18-storied IDCO tower at Mancheswar. The ITEES will provided technical support. The centre will function as a hub and all Government ITIs (71 at present) as its spokes. 1,51,000 trainees and trainers of this Skill Development initiative are set to create skilled workforce comparable to the best in the world.
