Large numbers of BJP Kisan Morcha activists under the leadership of Morcha district president Ajit Pradhan gheraoed the Kishorenagar block office protesting against the shortage of urea and seeds in the block.
BJP national secretary Suresh Pujari blamed the Naveen Patnaik Government for its apathetic attitude towards farmers and alleged that even after ruling for 18 years the BJD Government is misruled. Morcha district Prabhari Debashisha Hota said that hundreds of farmers have committed suicide due to State Government's mindless planning and alleged that the farmers are now preferring to leave the State and working as marginal bonded labourers.
A memorandum was also submitted to the Block Division Officer (BDO) regarding the matter.
Among others, BJP district president Bhagirathi Pradhan, morcha general secretary Jagannath Garnaiksingh, Hrudananda Pradhan, Lingaraj Das, Banambar Pradhan, Panchanan Sahoo and Mayadhar Pradhan were present.
