Joda town in Keonjhar district would be open defection-free by April 30, 2018, said Joda Municipality Executive Officer Suryamani Patjoshi on Tuesday.
He said a decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the civic body. He informed that out of about 3,500 applications sought for construction of domestic toilets during the last 4 years, 350 were built during the last five months and the rest would be constructed on a priority basis. Besides, 26 community toilets and two public toilets would be completed by March 30.
Municipality Health Officer RK Mishra has sought written resolution from school students and NGO members with vows not to go for open defection. likewise, Councillors would give in writing that there would be no open defection in their respective wards.
Chairman Manjula Patra, all Councillors and local MP’s representative Nira Bahidar were present.
